Rosa Flood found a deep connection to her culture and identity while pursuing her Bachelor of Design degree.
Graphic designer at Taputapu toi
Hamilton
Rosa has been creative since high school, but it was her time at Waikato that she began using her Māori and Pacific heritage as a bridge to her design work.
“I love the aspect of storytelling through visual design; I would love to use this to educate our people, especially our rangatahi,” Rosa says.
“One of the highlights of my degree were the supportive lecturers and tutors, who all had an immense love for design. They all positively impacted my experience.”
Graduated in April 2023, Rosa is now working as a graphic designer for Taputapu Toi, specialising in Māori graphic design. Rosa has worked on a large scale Matariki installation at Sylvia Park and the University’s brand patterns for the website and staff intranet.
Now enjoying working life, Rosa is not ruling out postgraduate study.
