Scholarship recipient honours cherished former staff member
Third year Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science student, Petra Guy, is the inaugural recipient of the Huy Tien Vu Scholarship.
Named in honour of New Zealand’s greatest adventurer, the programme educates scholars within the values of Sir Edmund Hillary and supports their growth and excellence in sport, creative and performing arts, academia, and leadership.

Hillary Scholars are supported to pursue their passion while completing their qualification at the University of Waikato and receive targeted leadership and personal development opportunities.
If you are a school leaver who exhibits leadership capabilities, excels academically, and has achieved in sport, or creative or performing arts, you can apply for the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship programme.
Established in 2005, the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship is one of the most prestigious student scholarships awarded by the University of Waikato.
