The Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management (GradDipEM) was previously called the Diploma in Engineering Management (DipEM). The GradDipEM is open for enrolments to new students from 2025.

Why study the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management?
The Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management (GradDipEM) is an additional qualification available to Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) students that includes the 800 hours of required work experience, while equipping graduates with enhanced business management expertise in preparation of rapid progression into management and leadership positions.
The Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management includes two points-bearing work placement papers, two 500 level management papers (delivered by the Waikato Management School) and two papers cross-credited from the BE(Hons) degree.

Graduates of the GradDipEM will have advanced knowledge and abilities in management, leadership, and professional interaction and skill self-assessment. All students should be able to:
evaluate the business model, innovation, and sustainability of an engineering workplace through both management and technical lenses,
evidence understanding of how teamwork, culture, and leadership impact on workplaces, and of strategic management approaches to organising and enhancing a workplace,
show understanding of the expectations of their role as a professional engineer in the workplace and in society,
demonstrate an understanding of their health and safety responsibilities in an engineering workplace, and
apply engineering knowledge and skills in an authentic place of practice (e.g., workplaces, community projects, professional associations).
Practical engineering experience
Work placements are a major feature of the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management programme and you will complete 800 hours of relevant work experience during your degree.
