Waikato Applied Statistics Unit

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Waikato houses the Applied Statistics Unit, which operates within the Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. The Unit's primary mission is to advance and promote effective statistical methodologies for both academic research and industrial applications.

Through its work, the Unit provides three key services: conducting applied research projects, delivering specialised courses in applied statistics, and offering statistical consulting to both university members and external organisations.

Collaboration is central to the Unit's approach, with many of its initiatives in research, teaching, and consulting being conducted jointly with practicing statisticians from the broader community beyond campus.
