Materials and Processing is a discipline concerned with understanding the characteristics of materials and the processes used to convert materials into products. It includes biotechnology, environmental technology, materials, process engineering and innovation and technology management. The major in Materials and Processing includes properties and uses of materials, processing of these materials, and designing industrial systems.

To complete a major in Materials and Processing, students must gain 135 points including 105 points above 100 level in Materials and Processing, including at least 45 points above 200 level. It is recommended that students include ENGEN112, ENGEN180, ENGME221, ENGMP211, two other 200 level ENGxx papers (from the list of qualifying Engineering papers), ENGCB321, ENGMP311, and one other 300 level ENGxx paper (from the list of qualifying Engineering papers) in their programme of study.

Note:

There will be no new enrolments in the Materials and Processing major (outside of existing guaranteed credit arrangements), Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in 2018, however a new Materials Science subject is available. Students enrolled in Materials and Processing in 2017 or prior should consult the Division of STEM for programme advice.
