For Sienna Jones, the University of Waikato was the perfect place to pursue her ambition of making a positive social impact.

Growing up in a small, conservative town in the South Island of New Zealand, she developed a passion for advocacy, which led her to study a Bachelor of Global Studies in Human Rights with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies.

"My degree allows me to explore diverse topics with people who want to make a difference, just like I do.”

Awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship in her final year of high school, Sienna was encouraged to dive into university life. She found her community at College Hall, where she gained independence and met friends who share her vision.

The student experience and support at the University have set Sienna on a promising path to inspire social change, a journey she’s excited to continue.
