Prizes for Education
Judith McGee Memorial Prize
The Prize was established in 2017 to recognise the achievement of the best performing students in Primary Graduate Diploma of Teaching Programme. Up to three prizes will be awarded annually to the best students enrolled in the Primary Graduate Diploma of Teaching Programme, subject to the following considerations:
- The awardees will normally have a GPA of 7.0 or higher
- The awardees will have strong evidence of high quality practicum experiences.
This will be provided by the University of Waikato Practicum Coordinator from evaluations by Faculty staff and Associate/Mentor Teachers.
Te Kotahitanga Education Prize
The Prize will be awarded annually to the top second year student of New Zealand Māori descent enrolled in a bachelors degree offered by the Division of Education. The top student will be selected based on having completed two years full-time equivalent and having the highest GPA of their cohort across their papers.
If enrolled in a Teacher Education programme the top student must also have completed a successful teaching experience while on practicum; a report provided by the relevant Professional Experience Coordinator will outline if this extra criterion has been met.
