Formative evaluation
Formative evaluation includes a range of evaluation procedures conducted during the teaching period of a paper, in order to improve the experience of the current cohort of students - rather than waiting until they have completed the paper to gain their feedback.
Methods
Options for formative feedback include:
- Peer review
- Group interviews
- In-class discussions
- Structured self-reflection and analysis.
A variety of tools can be considered, including:
- Google Forms (these can be made anonymous)
- Moodle forums
- Collecting student opinions through Moodle data collection tools
- Interactive presentation tools, including:
- Xorro-Q (contact staff for information about licences)
- Mentimeter
